Howland Capital Supports SquashBusters’ $1.5MM Milestone

We are honored to have been a sponsor for the 19th annual SquashBusters Derby.  The event not only brought together 80 program students, alumni, and supporters for a weekend full of spirited competition and camaraderie, but the event also achieved an impressive milestone by raising over $1.5 million to support their mission.

Cameron Rahbar and the T-Wrecks team

Our own Cameron Rahbar proudly captained the T-Wrecks team, which included SquashBusters students, fundraisers, and former professional squash players.  The team participated in the competition weekend and more importantly rallied to help in the organization’s fundraising efforts.

SquashBusters, a nonprofit that began in Boston, combines academic tutoring with squash coaching to help students unlock their full potential. Over the years, the program has expanded to Lawrence and Providence, RI, creating a model for similar initiatives across North America under the Squash & Education Alliance. With over 20 partner organizations now in place, SquashBusters has set a standard of excellence in using sports and education to make a lasting difference for young people.

To date, 98% of the students who’ve participated in SquashBusters have enrolled in college, with 87% securing employment or entering graduate school within six months of graduation. These statistics demonstrate the power of their mission and the enduring impact of their efforts.

We’re proud to support an organization that aligns with values we hold dear, such as integrity, achievement, and community. Congratulations to SquashBusters and everyone involved in the Derby for raising the bar—not just on the court, but in the lives of so many students.
